GEOTHERMAL: Geothermal heat pumps tap into the greatest solar collector, the earth. While conventional furnaces utilize fuel to generate heat, geothermal heat pumps use electricity to simply move heat from the earth allowing much higher efficiencies. There is a Federal Tax Credit Available on the purchase and installation of a Geothermal Heat Pump System. The tax credit is 30% of the total Geothermal installation with no cap. So for example, if a home owner pays $20,000 for a Geothermal Heat Pump System, a tax credit of $6,000 could apply.
